Backplane systems are used in servers and enable the easy installation or replacement of hard disks. Due to the plug-in technology of hard disk racks, the hard disks are integrated into the system via plug-in connections and not via cable connections, as is usually the case. This means that the hard disks can be replaced without tools and very easily without having to open the server housing. The hot-swap technology also enables the hard disks to be replaced and exchanged during operation.
